Free Course Introduction to internet marketing ( 8 Parts)

    Part 1
    Introduction To Internet Marketing

If you’ve ever been up late, then you’ve probably seen those annoying and overdone commercials that promise people to make a killing from the internet with absolutely no effort or work at all. You might have seen those catchy headlines where they say things like, “you’ll learn how to make money while you sleep”, “you’ll never have to work a day in your life again” or even “you don’t have to do a single thing, you literally just buy my product and you then make money.”

That sure would be nice huh? Unfortunately we live in a world where that’s not possible unless you win the lottery and even then they’re going to tax the hell out of it. Death and Taxes are the only two things that are certain in this lifetime and if you want to make money online, you’re going to have to work for it and you’re going to have to devote 100% commitment into the ideals of making money online.

A lot of people go in with the wrong attitude to begin with, they think to themselves, “oh, I just want to make a lot of money.” These are kinds of people that end up quitting their dreams of making money online early on and end up working a regular 9-5 job and they commonly never attempt to make money online ever again.

So in a nutshell, what is internet marketing?

Basically, you’re selling your own product to people over the internet or you’re selling someone else’s product. Some might argue, what about people selling services? Well, that service is the actual product that they’re selling. When you sell a service, you’re selling yourself which means You are the product.

How do you sell things to people without interaction or being face to face? There are so many different ways to do this that we wouldn’t have enough room to cover this in just one course but here are the keypoints:
Affiliate Marketing – This is when you sell a product owned by someone else through a website, articles, forums, social media websites, etc. There are thousands of different kinds of websites you can sell things on or promote someone else’s link.

Freelancing – This is when you sell a service to someone advertising your services through whatever means available. This is a great option for newbies or people who are looking for quick cash.

    What Internet Marketing IS NOT!

It’s not an excuse for you not to work. Contrary to what old people who never had the internet will tell you, making money online is damn hard work and it takes a special type of person to pull it off. Personally, I had an old landlord who was so against the idea of making money online that she wanted to evict me for it. That’s crazy right?

It goes to show you what some people think about the idea of making money online in general. They’re accustomed to working in factories and 5 cent milkmen. Don’t expect this journey to be short or easy, making money online is damn hard. No one ever said making money online was easy.

    What You’ll Need To Begin

So, you’re hooked on the idea of making money online but you just don’t have a clue where to begin or where to start. First of all, eliminate any doubt from your mind and any hype of creating “instant millionaire success” because it’s only going to slow you down in the long run. So, let’s give you a basic rundown and an idea of what you’ll need to begin.

First of all, you’re going to need a mindset that separates you from the rest of the people who want to make money online. Let me be honest here and this isn’t going to be a popular opinion or something that a lot of people like to hear but do you know what a lot of people do that want to make money online? They hope and wish for the money one day to just appear into their account.

That’s why places like Digital Point and Warrior Forum are so popular and do you know which sections of those forums are the most popular places? The Buy/Sell/Trade or “Warrior Special Offers” section. It’s filled with hopefuls looking to make bank off of someone else’s idea or thoughts.

    STAY AWAY FROM THOSE SECTIONS

While I’m sure there is good information to be had in these sections, here’s a breakdown of the majority of what you’ll find in that forum: You’ll find products that make bogus claims of making $200-300-400 or even $1,000 a day or more and guess how much they’re priced? AN INCREDIBLE $7. Come on now, do you honestly believe anyone who’s reliable, a trusted authority and is making that kind of money is going to seriously saturate their market and give you information like that for $7? Hell no, personally, I charge upwards of $500 to even get a basic idea of how to make money online and I charge a lot more for personal 1-on-1 coaching.

You get what you pay for

Touching up even further on those people selling products for $7,$17 and $27, you get what you pay for. I’m sure you’ve heard it before, well now you’re going to hear it again. You get what you pay for in the end and your price will essentially decide what kind of clientele you end up dealing with. If you charge cheap for products, then guess what? You’re going to have cheap customers who want a refund so they can buy another eBook and will probably continue down the line.

    So What Do You Need?

I know we went into the basic idea of making money, how much good information costs and how you get what you pay for, but what do you essentially need to make money online? You basically need a can do it attitude and a proper mindset. Don’t buy into all this garbage about which hosting package you HAVE to get, or which product you HAVE to have, if something is essential to your success, we’ll cover it in here.

It can be ridiculously difficult, and can take a lot of time. One thing that rings true is focusing on one thing and making that work (of course you need to reflect on your results and if its a good path to continue on or to try another "method" or strategy.

Do You Want To Sell Your Own Product Or Someone Else’s

This is one of the most essential questions you must answer before going into this business because this WILL be your business. Do you plan on selling a product that you own or someone else owns? There’s no other way to make money from the internet, you are essentially selling your own product or your selling someone else’s product.

If you’re confused by this or simply don’t agree, let me try to explain it a little better:

    Someone Else’s Product

If you promote your site as an informational site that makes money by obtaining clicks on AdSense, you’re still selling someone else’s product. You’re getting clicks to someone else’s website which essentially is selling something, so even with pay per click, you’re still selling someone else’s product.
If you’re doing affiliate marketing by simply pushing out links to another website with your affiliate ID, you’re selling their product.

    Your Own Product

You have your own product that usually includes a squeeze page and an order button.
You may also be offering freelancing services which may not be a physical product or a virtual product like an eBook but YOU are the product when you sell your services.

Are there any benefits and disadvantages to the two? You betcha, there’s plenty of advantages and disadvantages to selling your own product and selling someone else’s product.

Selling your own product means that you are the face of your business or company. If the product is bad, that means that you’ll be labeled as a bad person and your reputation will essentially go down the drain. It doesn’t necessarily have to “work” to be considered a great product, if you provide value to people that they may not have seen before or provide them with information; they’ll more than likely leave positive feedback.

Selling your own product also means that you have to keep in touch with customers and you have to keep an e-mail list (at least you should be doing) that you have to organize. You have to send out product launches, testimonials, newsletters, etc. It’s not a hard job to do but for some people, they’re not good with copywriting or selling but the great thing is, once you start making money you can simply just outsource this to someone who is good at it.

If you sell someone else’s product, you do have the advantage of not having to directly deal with customers and not having to keep up your website or e-mail list, HOWEVER, there are some serious flaws with this. I do not consider this a business model because you’re not earning any recurring income with most of these sales. You get the sale, then your customer is gone and the product owner now has a permanent customer they can continue to sell things to. There is a place for affiliate links and I consider that place to be upsells rather than just blatantly trying to affiliate market.

    Selling Your Own Product

Now we’re going to go into the basics of selling your own products. There are literally novels of information that will help you become successful while selling your own product but we’re only going to go into the basics because this is a short course designed to answer some of your questions and get you started on the right track. So what do you need to sell your own product and what things should you be looking for when you’re getting ready to sell your own product?

You need a market first of all. You need to know that whatever you’re selling is actually in demand and people are actually looking for the answer you’re selling. Basically, selling a product is a lot like selling an answer guide to someone because NO ONE is coming online just to spend money. People want an answer to a problem answered or they want a cure to a problem. For example, let’s say we’re selling a product on how to make money online, people are probably broke and looking for answers on how to make money.

People might have the dream of making money online but the problem here is that people are broke and in urgent need of money in most cases. You won’t commonly find a lot of millionaires online willing to buy make money online products because they want to make more money. You will find them and I have met a couple of people who had money in the bank who bought expensive make money online products because they wanted to make more money. So, first you need to identify a problem that some people have and you need to figure out how your product will solve that problem.

You then need to brainstorm how you’re going to create your product, who you’re going to market it to, start working on the layout of your product and then start the strenuous and long road of actually creating the product.

    During Creation

I urge you to hire a proofreader, of if you’re too cheap and have no business selling an eBook in the make money online field for example, proofread it yourself and make sure there’s no grammar or spelling mistakes. Spelling mistakes are embarrassing and will make you look like a fool when you’re supposed to appear as an authority on a subject.

Can you imagine if your professor or your teacher had grammar mistakes up on the board, would you consider them an authority subject on what they were teaching? You also should be upselling optional products with affiliate links because people will look for the easy way out no matter what they’re doing. People in nature are lazy and they want the easiest route possible, so if you provide them an optional upsell tool with your affiliate link that’s designed to give them a shortcut, they’re more than likely going to buy it if they plan on doing your method.

TIP: The majority of the people who purchase your product will NEVER read through the entire thing. Trust me, the majority of people will read some of it, realize there’s a lot of work involved and store it in their collection of other eBooks they’ve purchased. Is there any definitive way you can avoid this? No, this goes back to the issue of people being lazy in nature and wanting that easy button in life.

    Selling Someone Else’s Product

So you’ve decided that selling your own product isn’t for you or you just decided that you aren’t ready to take that leap of faith and build your own product line and brand. You don’t want to establish yourself as a Guru yet, which is totally understandable because a lot of people are scared of the idea of putting their name and their reputation out there. However, you don’t HAVE to put your real name out there, people like Kelly Felix or more commonly known as “The Rich Jerk” hid his identity for many years until he released new product Bring The Fresh.

Regardless of what brought you to the decision to sell your own product, we’re going to go over basic tips and ways you can sell someone else’s product.

First of all and most importantly, you are going to NEED your own website. You’re not going to be one of those people who sets up a free Blogspot because this looks tacky and you’re not going to promote URLs directly or even through a link shortening service because your click thru ratio will be horrible. Honestly, hosting isn’t expensive and if you go to Host Gator, you can get a hosting plan starting at a little over a few bucks a month.
If you can’t afford a few bucks a month, I’m afraid you have other priorities you should be worrying about rather than making money online and I’m going to question how you can even afford your internet service, unless you’re pirating your internet from somewhere. So let’s say you’ve got this amazing website that’s designed to sell whatever it is the other person is selling and you’re capturing e-mails
    .
Side Note: Going into that further, you better be capturing e-mails. This means you can continue to sell these people who opt-in the other person’s product. You can send an affiliate link to the other person’s website as soon as the product launches to your website, if you don’t build up a list, then you’re going to be stuck with one time customers and nothing more.

Now then, let’s say your website is complete, you’ve got a nice list capturing service but how exactly do you build traffic up to this site?

Social Bookmarking – A lot of people think this is dead, but it’s FAR from dead. Google is just more strict on what kind of bookmarks and comments they take seriously. Do them manual, not from some garbage auto-spinner that’s going to get you de-indexed.

Forum Posting – A lot of good targeted traffic can come from forums if you’re a regular member on the forum and you post a lot of good factual information. Just keep on the forum and continue to post there, you’ll see a huge leap in traffic numbers.

Article Writing – Writing articles isn’t fun, let’s face it. It’s exhausting, your hands and back will probably hurt at the end of the day among other things, and you’re commonly not paid very well unless you work for a corporate company. However, article directories and the like are still HUGE on traffic and can bring a lot of traffic if you leave your website in the resource box in the bottom of the article. There are thousands of article directories out there that can be found with a simple Google Search.
